Life is pretty busy these days. I'm preparing for lots of events. I wanted to show you some projects I have been working on.
I purchased an Accuquilt before Christmas. I have designed a couple of quilts specifically with Accuquilt dies in mind. I love to layer cut and well, Accuquilt allows that and then some!!
I purchased an Accuquilt GO so that I could do applique, but as it turned out I have been enjoying it for strip cutting, half square triangles, triangle square units and squares.
Strip die: Item 55025
Triangle Square: Item 55027
Half Square Triangle:Item 55009
Square:Item 55006
Here is the quilt, still in progress:
I've made all the blocks, still have to piece the rows together...not all the blocks are in this picture.
Some of the pieces laying on my table
Chain piecing
9 patch units made from 2" strip die. I made these blocks while I was piecing the blocks from the current project. These 9patches were my Leaders and Enders :)
This is a drunkards path. Also cut from Accuquilt's dies! Can't wait to finish piecing this one!
Longarm work: The other night I wanted to try something different. So I stitched a butterfly with my Innova longarm machine. Then I colored the butterfly in with Prisma colored markers. I like the way it turned out.
Before
after :)
Hope you enjoyed my latest creations!
Happy Sewing!
On Saturday, I taught at the Village Quilt shop. I taught the Hunter's Star using the Rapid Fire ruler.
I had a great class!
Over the next couple of months I want to teach some old favorites and I plan on working on a "skill building" class. I've been working on the skill building lessons for a couple of years, just have not offered it yet. When I am ready I plan on taking videos of it and posting on my blog. I will also be doing some more longarm videos. Little tutorials! Don't you just love those! And you know what? I don't mind showing you where I mess up! None of us are perfect!
I plan on watching Jamie Wallen and following his tutorials this year also. He is such a wonderful longarm quilter. You can never learn enough! He is a great teacher! When I get the chance I will try to post what I learn from him also. You should check him out. Another favorite longarm quilter is Dusty Farrell. Both of these men are phenomenal quilters!
Sorry I don't have anymore than this to post. I have to get off the computer...time to get moving!
My first post for 2014, what a way to begin a year! Maybe I need to fill you in since my last post, how about some pictures? OR maybe a video?
Last week I put a customer's quilt on my new longarm machine:
Innova 26" with Lightning Stitch
This is me! I'm working on my customer's quilt: Phyllis. She loved her quilt when she picked it up. Phyllis did not want feathers, leaves, vines...none of the normal things. She allowed me to do something different! I fell in love with this quilting. All the blocks are different and guess what? It is a king size quilt!
Once I finished Phyllis's quilt it was time to put on the next king size quilt...there is still 1 more king size quilt to load after this one...
This customer commissioned me to make their son who is 6ft7in tall!! Poor kid! He can't find any blankets that are tall enough for him. He asked me if I could make him a Green Lantern Quilt. He sent me a picture and I came up with this. I really hope he likes it.
Here is a picture of the quilting in the center of the quilt. The lines are 1/4" apart! No ruler!!
I have some wonderful news!! I will be teaching 4 classes at NQA!!
I will be teaching 2 piecing classes and 2 longarm classes and they are:
Friendship Rings:
Cosmic Vibrations:
The top quilt is the one published in Quiltmaker magazine
This is the smaller version I bring to class :)
For the 2 longarm classes:
Now this is just a small sample of my work. I'm teaching a ruler class and what I call "Mix it up" class. I will post those pictures later.
I will be traveling a lot this year! I'm so excited!! I will let you know where I'm going about a month before and if you are nearby please stop by and say hi! I would love to meet you!
