Quiltmaker magazine Blog Tour day!!!

Quiltmaker magazine is hosting a blog tour this week for designers who have blogs in their newest release of

100 Blocks

My block is named the Barn Swallow Block

I was inspired to design this block from watching the birds, Barn Swallows, as they swoop down to ground to catch insects!! These are some unique birds!! Have you ever watched them? It never fails when someone is mowing the lawn, especially with a tractor, these birds swoop right down in front and behind the tractor!! I'm fascinated by this, so I decided to design a block.
Now here are two layouts I designed using the blocks. I will not be piecing the borders, just thought I would show you what I came up with.

This one is a little more colorful, but can you find the block?

This quilt design is the original color way...the block can be paper pieced or made with templates. Paper Piecing is easier, it does not waste as much fabric as the template method...ask me how I know, LOL!!

Quiltmaker's 100 Block's vol 7 will be out on newsstands any day!! Here is the issue cover!!

So, go check out the other blogs that are on the tour!! Here is the link for you to begin the fun!!

You will have to watch for my quilt which will be in the Quilts from 100 Blocks magazine this fall!!! Can't reveal yet...just wait till you see it!! I guess I better get to work piecing it, huh?!! LOL

Happy Sewing everyone! Please leave me a comment about my block if you would like!

Hello everyone!!! Tomorrow my blog will be featured in Quiltmaker magazine's 100 Blocks Blog tour. I have a block on page 32 of the magazine...or is it page 36!! LOL I don't have the magazine with me at this point, I know it is around those page numbers, lol...I crack myself up!!
My block is the Barn Swallow block.

This past weekend I added borders to this quilt and I purchased a flannel backed silk backing. Here is the quilt:

I plan on quilting it soon!! But first I have to finish my customer's quilts and 2 quilts to 2 different magazines...oh yes!! and my new kitchen cabinets are being delivered today!!! WOOOHOO!!! We are doing the install on the cabinets, I'm hoping and a praying it does not take my hubby and 4 sons and other helpers that said they would help too long to do this job!! You know what I mean?!

Happy Sewing everyone!! Hope to see you tomorrow on the blog tour!

oooo, it has been a while since I blogged...

oops!! I did not realize I had not been blogging. So, I guess I better get started!!
Lots has gone on this past week. I still can't reveal what I did last week, top secret for a few more months. But I will say I had no idea I would like being in front of a camera!! What fun I had! And it looks like I will get to do this again, I'm super excited!
Also last week, my boys (3 oldest) were deep into college finals! They were all busy studying, and so far so good! Very proud of them!! My husband also received a promotion at work, way to go BABE!
Earlier in the week, I had to go pick up my sweet little grand daughter from daycare. I only had her for a little bit, but what a cutie she is and just so sweet!!
I reconnected with a friend from High School. I love hearing about what people have done with their lives in the last 30 years and I so wish I could live back in my home town of Rock Hill, SC. I miss it.
I've been working on a few designs for quilting, but due what I did last week, I missed sending my designs in to the publisher. I'm ok with it though, I need to work on so many things here to get caught up with life: home life and quilting life. So they break of huge deadlines over me is nice. I do have about 4 customer quilts that need to be quilted on the longarm this week, but I am ok with this. I've ordered Carol Doak's legal size newsprint paper for a quilt that I have due to Quiltmaker magazine. That is due in June. And that leads me to my next topic!!!!
I have a block in the newest issue of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks!! I will have more information on the blog tour which begins tomorrow, so make sure you stay tuned in!!!

Here is what I was playing with in EQ7. I saw this quilt in a different magazine, I think it made the cover? Anyway, I love this!! doesn't look like fun to make? If I can find the magazine, I will make sure I give the designer the credit!! Great work!

Today is our oldest child's birthday. Kate is 27 years old today. Happy Birthday Beautiful!! I'm making dinner for you today :)

Metro Guild Quilt Show

Yesterday I traveled over to Roseville, MI. Not too far from me. I picked up my best friend Dawn and we headed over to the quilt show. I had a wonderful time...and forgot to bring my camera and take pictures. I did take 3 pictures using my camera on my phone. I fell in love with the scrappy quilts, there is just something about all the movement that is provided with a scrappy quilt. Your eye just keeps moving across the quilt, what eye candy!!!

So here are the pictures I took, and I did not get a close up of the quilter's information, sorry!!

Don't you just love scrappy quilts!!

Time to get ready for church!!

Happy sewing!!

It's Friday and the stress....

Good morning world!! My stress level has dropped almost completely! I have finished 2 huge projects, I feel like I can breathe now. I slept pretty good too, no worries...well I have 1 more huge project and I am counting down the days....18 days till I leave...can't say what it is yet....

Last night I was the guest speaker at the Oakland County Quilt Guild. I brought all my quilts and did a trunk show!! I had a blast. I really like this guild.

Today, well today I am going to attack my house!!

Yesterday I ran over to Marshal's to pick up a bundle of their .99cent bags. I use them to return customer quilts in or I use them to carry my quilts to my trunk shows. So....while I was there I decided I would do a little "shopping". I wandered back to the home décor  and found this king size comforter set on sale!! I walked away, I did not buy it....yet............. I purchased my bags and left the store. Hopped in my truck and called my hubby and told him about the comforter. He said, "go buy it!" ok you only have to tell me 1x!!

So today, after I clean my house, I plan on making a bedrunner, pillows and pillowcases for my new comforter set!! I wanted something that was bright and cheerful for our room. I'm going to choose soft greens and blues to accent and hang white sheers. What do you think? I will put up another picture after I finish making the other things.

Happy Sewing everyone!!
